Northern Lights, Valley Chamber Chorale Concert

Let Valley Chamber Chorale Illuminate your Christmas
How long and dark our nights have become this time of year! And even more so in Scandinavian countries of the polar night. For this year’s December concerts, the VCC features songs of Scandinavia and the Baltics where songs are written to illuminate the darkness and bring light to the world.
At this year’s four Northern Lights concerts, ice luminaries light your way up the stairs to the historic courthouse. Inside, the candle-lit tables and festive decor glow with invitation to sit back and enjoy the surroundings, the food, and the heavenly music.
On the program, from Latvia, “Bring us Fire, Bring us Light, let God into your heart.” Denmark brings a Magnificat by Buxtehude, and Norway “A Spotless Rose.” From Sweden, “Holy Night” which begins, “There is silence all around me in the peaceful winter night, from the church down in the valley I can see the candlelight.”
Along with the chorale will be recorder virtuoso Clea Galhano, baroque violin player Margaret Humphrey, Solvay Peterson on cello, and our amazing arranger and keyboard player Phil Kadidlo.
At this time of year, little bits of light are treasured whether from a candle in a window, a star in the sky or a song in the night. Let the VCC illuminate your December.
