The Help: The Book, the Movie, the Hairstyles!
The Stillwater Public Library Foundation will offer first-hand insight on the movie production of The Help, on Tuesday May 22, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Stillwater Public Library.
Roxanne Wightman, of Stillwater, key hairstylist for The Help, will share fascinating stories and photos.
The highly acclaimed movie, based on the widely popular novel by Kathryn Stockett, begins in Jackson, Missisippi, 1962. Bouffant hairstyles, the crowning glory of the look of the ‘60s, offer baby-boomers a trip down memory lane. Imagine the sweltering heat, high humidity, and hot camera lights on location in Greenwood, Mississippi in August. Weather is clearly one of the challenges of hairstylists in the film industry.
Passionate about her work, Wightman is energized by the collaboration of creating a vision and the challenge of keeping a story believable and the audience 100% engaged. Working in the film industry since 1985, her movies include Oceans Eleven, Traffic and The Ring.
Her complete filmography can be found at IMDb.com.
