Bachmann on Obamacare: 'More Expensive, Less Care. What a Deal'

On the second anniversary of Obamacare, Rep. Michele Bachmann says the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) released the following statement regarding the second anniversary of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, becoming law:

“Two years ago today, President Obama signed the most expansive and invasive piece of legislation in the history of the United States into law. Chief proponents of this bill said it would make health care more affordable for all Americans and would extend coverage to 95 percent of the population. Time has proven both of these to not be the case.

“Then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi said we would need to pass the bill to find out what it’s in it. Unfortunately, she was right. Two years after its passage, we are only scratching the surface in understanding the scope and reach of Obamacare. A recent report from the Congressional Budget Office found that the law will cost billions more than originally anticipated and could leave up to 27 million Americans uninsured. Premiums have already skyrocketed, and millions may lose their employer-based coverage when the bill is fully implemented. This is not affordable care. This is deception.

“Three days from now, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments about the individual mandate, the heart of Obamacare. Without this mandate, the entire health care law is moot. I will be present in the courtroom on March 28 to hear arguments myself. For the sake of the U.S. economy and the security of the greatest health care system in the world, I hope it is found unconstitutional.”

Bachmann has been a long-time advocate of repealing the President’s health care overhaul. Hours after passage, Bachmann introduced the first bill in the House of Representatives to repeal Obamacare in full.
