Here’s how the guys at Smalley’s describe the idea:
“I'm guessing that by now you have all seen the Harlem Shake videos that have destroyed the Internet with awesomeness (if you haven't, then Google it and laugh for awhile).
Well, what better place to do it than in the back bar at Smalley's. I know it's incredibly short notice, but I've got a videographer who says he'll do it tonight and since I have Karaoke going on as well, I figured, "Why Not?”
The video always starts with a single figure wearing a mask and doing a silly dance while everyone goes about their business.
When the bass drops the writhing masses of previously well-behaved people let hell break loose in the most unseemly and hilarious way. The crowd is usually wearing silly things in the second half of the video and since the crowd at Smalley's likes to do that too this should be right up their alley.
I know it's REALLY short notice, but the guy who can shoot it and cut it is on a tight schedule so I'm trying to make it work. If we get enough people, I think this could be awesome.
