Document: Lumberjack Days Promoter Files Personal Bankruptcy

Dave Eckberg of St. Croix Events filed for personal bankruptcy Tuesday. According to court records, Stillwater Area Schools, the city of Stillwater and the Minnesota State Patrol are among the 100-plus "business debt" creditors listed in the filing.

The organizer of Stillwater’s , Dave Eckberg, has filed for personal bankruptcy.

Dave Eckberg and his wife, Stacy Einck, owe 100-plus creditors more than $1.4 million, .  They also owe about $45,000 in state and federal taxes.

"The bankruptcy filing,” Eckberg wrote in an email to the Pioneer Press, “is personal and does not affect any claims anyone may have against Lumberjack Days or St. Croix Events."

Eckberg's attorney, John Hedback, told the Star Tribune small business owners commonly include all possible claims against them in personal bankruptcy filings, because there is a personal liability for some business debts.

According to court records, some of the “business debts” , St. Croix Events and the Lumberjack Days Festival Association.
