Impacts of Wisconsin Recall Elections Can be Seen in Stillwater
Stay with Patch all night as we cover Wisconsin's historic recall election like nobody else can. We'll have updates from local polling places, real-time results and video from the election night parties of both Scott Walker and Democrat Tom Barrett.
Wisconsin voters are heading to the polls in huge numbers today to cast their ballots in the state's historic recall elections.
That election has even stretched into Stillwater as supporters of Scott Walker spent the afternoon on the Minnesota side of the Stillwater Lift Bridge reminding commuters to go home and vote.
Rep. Michele Bachmann even got in on the action.
At about 4 p.m. Bachmann posted this as her Facebook status:
"There is still time to "Stand with Walker" in the recall election today. If you live in Wisconsin, please make sure you are at your polling location before 8 pm in order to vote for Walker. A Walker Victory will remind the progressives and union bosses that Americans know conservative leadership creates jobs."
If you're interested, stay up to date with the latest on the recall in Patch's live blog — and make sure you share your views on the recall as well.
Make sure to head over to Hudson Patch to see their coverage of the recall election.
We'll be providing updates from polling places throughout the Milwaukee area, we'll be at the Scott Walker and Tom Barrett campaign parties tonight, and we'll be providing the best of the coverage from The Huffington Post and other news outlets.

Bachmann: "A Walker Victory will remind the progressives and union bosses that Americans know conservative leadership creates jobs."
Oh Michelle, let's look at all the facts. Yes, Walker won, but exit polls show that voters would vote for President Obama over Governor Romney by at least 7 points, with some polls showing the number as high as 12 points. Over 60 percent of the people polled said that they were against a recall unless gross misconduct was suspected or proven.
Let's be clear, these results are not about people voting for an conservative leader, these results show that people were voting against the recall in this situation.

Spinning the election into something other than one for Governor.
Hmmmmm, make the best of a very bad situation Susan.
Gone are the days when the masses vote for entitlement candidates. Voters realize everything has a price and borrowing from China isn't a good option to fund programs way to expensive to be sustained by taxpayers.

Yes Jim, it is spin, but the exit poles are very telling. Many people voted for Walker because they were against the recall, not necessarily because they were for Governor Walker and his conservative policies.

Interesting point, Susan. I've heard that from a lot of Wisconsin voters I've talked with too--that they were going to vote Walker in opposition to the recall.

This was posted as Rep. Michele Bachmann's Facebook status a few minutes ago: "Last night's recall vote in Wisconsin was a clear sign that the American people are interested in bold elected leaders who mean what they say and say what they mean." DO you think that the result of last night's recall vote was a sign that American leaders are interested in bold leaders who mean what they say and say what they mean?

No. This means that Michele Bachmann will continue to skew facts and tell half truths whenever she opens her mouth. She counts on people being too busy, or not interested enough in politics, to seek the full truth.

I generally fall in line with what Susan has indicated. Nobody should read too much into what occurred in the Badger State, especially when you consider 70 percent of the voters are likely intoxicated. Walker won his election in the first place, Barrett is an extremely weak candidate and the cheeseheads don't want to encourage recall campaigns without valid reasons. It is a reach to pretend any of Tuesday's results are any indication of what will occur in November or in other states. The real travesty is the lack of consequences for elected leaders who fled the state and teachers who lied about being sick and skipped school. These are my views as an independent voter (not in sconnie).
