Man Pulled Over for Grubbing on McDonald's While Driving
It’s unclear from the police report exactly what was so tasty the 19-year-old Oakdale man couldn’t keep his eyes on the prize.
It wasn’t intoxication or distraction from using a cell phone while driving that caused a 19-year-old man to repeatedly cross the centerline on Greeley Street last week, but rather McDonald’s.
That’s right, a 19-year-old Oakdale man told police he was driving poorly because he was grubbing on some McDonald’s while driving. It’s unclear from the police report exactly what was so tasty the man couldn’t keep his eyes on the prize.
Here’s what happened, according to a Stillwater Police report:
An off-duty Bayport police officer reported a driving complaint. Stillwater police located the truck, saw the driver cross over the centerline and made a traffic stop.
The driver told police he was driving poorly because he was eating McDonald’s. Police did not notice any signs of impairment.
The man was given a verbal warning and sent on his way.

Seriously--distracted enough to go over the centerline is distracted enough to cause an accident. Give the idiot a ticket.

Had to be the fries, if you don't eat them right away while they're hot they are nasty by the time you get them home.

Has to be the son of a Council Member, Police Officer or other official to blatantly commit a traffic violation in front of one of Stillwater's finest and get off with just a warning.

Wonder what time of day this happened? He should have been ticketed. He's at the perfect age to learn something important about driving, like that if you don't pay attention, you can kill someone. Not that it matters what the time of day is or how old the driver is, for Pete's sake. The police were as idiotic as the driver.

Though I agree the person should be ticketed for driving such, why should it really matter WHAT age he/she is? Driving like an idiot at 16, 20, 28, 35, 60 or 80- all would deserve a ticket. A law broken is a law broken-
