Earlier this month, the Stillwater Area School District launched their new website.

The decision to give the district’s websites a facelift was made about a year ago after getting feedback that the existing websites were "out-of-date, difficult to navigate and visually unattractive."

Work on the school district’s website began last spring. The site had not been upgraded since 2007.

The new site design is clean, easier to navigate and features more photos, videos and social media feeds. The homepage also hosts a calendar and four news sections.

Unlike the previous websites, which were owned, managed and hosted by a private vendor, the district will hold exclusive rights to the new site.

“This means the website project will be cost-neutral over time as the district will save money by hosting the website server internally rather than with an outside vendor,” a District 834 news release states. “The district will own and manage the sites and will not pay ongoing subscription fees or consulting costs.”

The district will continue to add content, fix bugs and enhance the site’s functionality in the weeks ahead. Community feedback is being accepted by email at comments@stillwater.k12.mn.us.
