Stillwater Author’s Novel Getting National Recognition

Copies of Stillwater Author Colleen Moran Baldrica's book "Tree Spirited Woman" was handed out in gift bags at pre-Oscar Event in Hollywood.

A lucky break or destiny? Whatever it was, Stillwater resident Colleen Moran Baldrica is grateful. Her book, Tree Spirited Woman, has now captured the attention of a national audience. “Late last year I received an e-mail from a woman in Hollywood who had read my book and thought it would be the perfect addition to the gift bags being handed out at the 2012 Red Carpet Celebrity Style Lounge, a pre-Oscar event,” Baldrica said. “I just couldn’t believe it.” Fifty books were given away to award winners, celebrities, stylists, the press and media at the event held at the acclaimed L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills. UPDATED: Stillwater Planning Commission Gives The Green Room's Rooftop Patio the Go-Ahead

The Stillwater Planning Commission approved The Green Room's proposal to build a full-service rooftop patio that would seat up to 30 people in the shadows of the Stillwater Lift Bridge.

The Stillwater Planning Commission on Monday night gave The Green Room's proposal for a rooftop patio a thumbs up. The Green Room proposed a 450-square foot rooftop patio that willl offer full-service dining in the shadows of the Stillwater Lift Bridge. The patio will seat up to 30 people. Chef Christopher Durant told the Pioneer Press he and Green Room co-owner Stanton Schmitt would like to have the patio open later this summer. "Obviously, we have a lot of red tape to cut through yet, but if we could get it open this summer, we'd love for that to happen," Durant told the Pioneer Press. "But if it looks like it's going to be later in the summer, we'd have to wait until next spring. We'd need to have a return on our investment for this …

Downtown Stillwater's First Bike Shop: Janna's Hides and Rides

Stillwater native Janna Murray opened up downtown Stillwater's first bicycle rental shop on North Main Street this week. Her store features "hides for the bikers at Pappy's and rides for the new trails."

Over the next few years, downtown Stillwater is likely to see a boon of shops aimed at serving thousands of cyclists expected to ride the Brown’s Creek and Loop Trails. And Stillwater native Janna Murray is proud to be the first—her specialty shop, Janna’s Hides and Rides, opened Monday. The city has gotten inquiries from people looking into businesses catering to future users of the new trails, Stillwater City Planner Michel Pogge confirmed. “She’s first,” he said. “She’s open and it’s exciting for downtown. It’s a case of the early bird getting the worm.” Murray said she is sure there will be many bicycle rental shops popping up on Main Street in the near future, but she wanted to be the first. Summer Tuesdays Announces List of Flicks at Lowell Park in Downtown Stillwater

For those looking forward to a new season of Summer Tuesdays at Lowell Park, Stillwater Patch is happy to announce the list of movies, some news about this year's music and a request for downtown businesses to apply for space in the merchant market.

Summer Tuesdays released a list of movies today that will be shown on the big screen at Lowell Park this summer. Now in it’s 10th year, Summer Tuesdays will once again be held at Lowell Park—where Stillwater residents can gather for seven weeks on Tuesdays to taste local food, shop at the merchant market, listen to free, live music and watch movies.
