A portion of Highway 95 will close for the weekend starting Friday at 10 p.m. as crews demolish the Highway 36 flyover bridge as part of the St. Croix River Crossing Project.
The closure—between the junction of Highways 95 and 36—will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and be complete by 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, weather permitting.
Highway 95 motorists should follow the signed detour route when the closure occurs.
Access to businesses and homes along Hwy 95 will be available during the closure; however, vehicles may need to use alternate routes. All Sunnyside driveways will be accessible during this closure. Residents and marina users are encouraged to use the recommended routes for access to the north and south entrances.
The detour route uses Highway 36, Osgood Avenue, 47th Street N., Stagecoach Trail and Fifth Avenue N. Local access is available between Pickett Street and Point Road.
In addition, night work will begin in the Old Neighborhood area this week, MnDOT warns that nearby residents may see lights and hear noise associated with this work.
Crews plan to close the existing Beach Road bridge Aug. 18, weather permitting. The new S. Frontage Road extension in front of Phil’s Tera Hideaway must be open before the Beach Road bridge closes.
Access to businesses along Highways 36 and 95 will remain open at all times.
