St. Croix Crossing: Bridge Foundations on Track to Be Done in Early 2014

Roads are opening and reopening in the remainder of November.

The St. Croix Crossing project is making progress on land and over water.

On the St. Croix River:
The foundation work should be done in early 2014, with all caissons and three piers now complete. As of Nov. 13, concrete work was done on five of the 10 footings and four of the 10 columns. (Click on PDF thumbnail above to see diagram.)

On the Minnesota side:
Weather permitting, you can expect these to open by Nov. 24: the new Beach Road, the South Frontage Road and Lookout Trail. Remaining lanes of Hwy. 95 south of Hwy. 36 will open by the end of November.

On the Wisconsin side:
As of Nov. 14, all lanes of Hwy. 64 are open between 150th Avenue and County V. Crews finished hauling clean material (rock, sand and mud) from the bottom of the river. They were set to return the top soil to the land and finish landscaping last week. Above is a map of the Wisconsin approach work to extend Hwy. 64. This construction will start in 2014 and be completed in 2016.
