Stillwater Author: From Dead in Water to Sly Stallone 'Homefront' Adaptation

Chuck Logan welcomes Hollywood's treatment of his 2005 novel in one of the most expensive movies ever made from a Minnesota author's work, according to media reports.

Author Chuck Logan, who lives in Stillwater, doesn't begrudge Sylvester Stallone for making changes to his 2005 novel in the new movie Homefront that hits theaters Wednesday.

"Northern Minnesota becomes Louisiana, and my shaggy Northwoods character Broker becomes a bald-headed Brit," Logan told Minnesota Public Radio. (Hear the MPR report in the audio player above.) But it's all good after the Hollywood adaptation rescued a writing career Logan described as having been "dead in the water."

At a cost of $70 million, the production is one of the spendiest to be based on a book by a Minnesota author, the Star Tribune reported.
