Zach Sobiech's 'Clouds' Performed by Jearlyn Steele and Twin Cities Gospel Choir
The Children's Cancer Research Fund awarded the Stillwater Area High School student its Dreammaker Award posthumously on Saturday with a prerecorded message from Katie Couric.
Clouds, the viral song sensation by Zach Sobiech, got a spirited interpretation Saturday by Jearlyn Steele and the Twin Cities Gospel Choir at the Children’s Cancer Research Fund's Dawn of a Dream fundraising gala.
The organization gave its Dreammaker Award to Sobiech at the event, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
ABC News' Katie Couric appeared by prerecorded video, according to KARE 11, before the performance of Clouds as produced by Atomic K Records' Karl Demer, who was also Zach Sobiech's producer.
Sobiech's parents, Rob and Laura Sobiech, accepted the award on his behalf, WCCO reported.
The Lakeland teen, a Stillwater Area High School student, wrote Clouds as a farewell to friends and family after he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He died in May.
