A Trip Back in Time: Minnesota Territorial Prison Proposal was Approved on Nov. 1, 1849
A memorial for an appropriation to construct a Minnesota Territorial Prison is presented to and approved by Congress. Construction of the prison begins at Stillwater in 1851 and the first stage is completed by 1853.
