“It is commentary on society, a comedy about greed, corruption and lust,” Moses said.

Here is what the Bridge Theatre said about the production in their press release:

“Based on Ben Jonson's 400-year-old comedy ‘Volpone’ ‘Sly Fox’ is the story of Foxwell J. Sly, a con-man whose assistant, Simon Able, spreads the word that Fox is wealthy and dying, and might leave his money to someone who brings him gifts. But Able wants the money for himself -- as, of course, do all the other "friends." The play is full of lines like "Never think too little of people; there's always a little less to be thought."

"Sly Fox" was first presented on Broadway in 1976 with George C. Scott and Hector Elizondo in the lead roles; the 2004 revival featured Richard Dreyfuss, Eric Stoltz, Bronson Pinchot, Rachel York, and Rene Auberjonois. Gelbart was lead writer of the TV series "M*A*S*H," the movies "Oh God!" and "Tootsie," co-author of the musical "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," and many others.”
