Ice Fishing Contest to Honor Military Members and Their Families is Feb. 2

Holes for Heroes Ice Fishing Tournament is happening Saturday, Feb. 2 from 1-4 p.m. at Medicine Lake in Plymouth. There's still time to register. Military personnel, and their immediate families, can register to fish free of charge.

An ice fishing contest honoring members of the Armed Forces who have served our country, and their families who have sacrificed along with them, will take place next month at Medicine Lake in Plymouth.

Stillwater area service men and women, and their families, are welcome to register.

Registration

Advance registration is $5 per person. Same-day registration (walk-up) is $10.

Your registration helps provide free fishing opportunities for men & women who have served in the military. Military personnel and their immediate families can register in advance or on the day of the event, at no charge.

Online registration & advanced ticket sales will end on Friday, Feb. 1 at noon.

Simulcast to Iraq & Afghanistan

The tournament will be simulcast to Iraq & Afghanistan so that personnel currently serving overseas can watch their family and friends while they fish.

Advance registration is required for those who wish to participate in the simulcast, so event officials can coordinate timing and logistics and your military friend or family member can be positioned to participate.

Prizes

More than $2,000 in prizes including Frabill StormSuit, Aqua-Vue, HT Auger Set, Dicks Sporting Goods cards, Ice Hunter combo. Category prizes plus random drawings throughout the day.

Rules

Tournament rules will be posted on www.fishingforlife.org and emailed to all registered participants by Jan. 24.

Inclement Weather/Unsafe Ice Conditions

If weather or ice conditions are questionable, visit www.fishingforlife.org to find out whether the tournament will take place.

Notice will be posted by 6 a.m. on the day of tournament. In the event of cancelation, no refunds will be issued.
