Stillwater Historic House Tour is Sept. 8

This year's tour will include the Warden's House, the Austin Jenks Home, the Aurora Staples Inn and the Demeter Kalinoff House.

The announces the Stillwater Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4pm.

This year’s tour will have four very distinct homes that span more than a half a century.

The Warden’s House, which was built while Minnesota was still a Territory, is one of the oldest homes in Stillwater. The Austin Jenks Home, on South Fifth Street was constructed in 1880 of local brick; the , was built during the height of the lumber boom by one of the most well-known lumber barons in the Midwest; and the Demeter Kalinoff House on South Second Street was constructed in 1913.

“These houses show the transformation of Stillwater, from a rough and tough lumber town to a more gentle, river city,” according to Brent Peterson, executive director of the Washington County Historical Society. “The differences really put you in the timeline of the history of Stillwater and show the beauty of each era.”

Tickets are available the day of the tour at the , and are $15 each.
