2013 Washington County Bluegrass Festival on Tap

The family-friendly event also features food vendors, merchandise (festival T-shirt), face painting, and other activities.

Organizers are gearing up for the 12th annual Washington County Bluegrass Festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve.

The outdoor event—meant to celebrate the season and thank supporters of Washington County Parks—will run from 3-7 p.m.

Located within the 2,200-acre Lake Elmo Park Reserve, the venue “provides a naturally peaceful outdoor setting perfect for large groups,” according to a release.

The event will be held at the south picnic shelter at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve, at the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road 10 (one mile north of Interstate 94) in Lake Elmo.

Visitors are encouraged to bring camping chairs and/or blankets.

The family-friendly event also features food vendors, merchandise (festival T-shirt), face painting, and other activities.

Near the shelter are several barbeque grills, a large playground area, biking trails, and a boat launch.

For the second year in a row, artist Dave Witt created the festival image; posters will be for sale at the show. Bluegrass Festival T-shirts are by Contempl8.

Event sponsors are the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old Time Music Association and Jazz 88 FM. Sound is by Doug Lohman of Armadillo Sound. Food vendors are St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Hometown Creamery, and Fork in the Road.

This event is free with a valid vehicle permit ($5/day or $25/annual).

Park permits may be purchased at any park contact station during regular business hours. For more information on park permits and reservations, visit the Washington County Parks website under the hours and fees tab. Annual park permits are valid for 12 months at all Washington County, Carver County and Anoka County parks.

People can also “go green” and enter the Lake Elmo Park Reserve for free (no permit required) by biking or walking.

Camping reservations are available at the park campground, although reservations are not required to attend. Pets are not permitted in the campground or at the festival site.
