Writers on Writing with Crime Novelist Ellen Hart

Ellen Hart, author of 25 crime novels including the newly released, “The Lost Women of Lost Lake” will be the featured speaker for the January segment of Art Reach St. Croix’s Writers on Writing.

Hart is a three-time winner of the Minnesota Books Award for Best Popular Fiction and five-time winner of the Lambda Literary Award. She has taught classes in mystery writing at the Loft Literary Center and is the author of the popular Jane Lawless and Sophie Greenway series. In a recent interview, Hart explains, “As a working writer, you have to sit down and write whether you’re feeling inspired or not. You hope, you may even pray for inspiration. Some days it comes, some days it doesn’t. On the days it does come, you better be sitting down at your laptop when it hits. But you have to make progress either way.”

Writers on Writing is sponsored by ArtReach St. Croix’s Literary Committee. The goal is to bring authors into the community to talk about writing, publishing and the writing life. Upcoming speakers include screenwriter, Tom Pope, and Minneapolis Star Tribune Books Editor, Laurie Hertzel.
