“Paul is dedicated to working with local artists and venues to improve the music for all of us; taking inspiration after his brother was stricken with a terminal disease Paul decided to pursue one of his passions: music.”

In pursuing his passion for music, Barber started an artist management group and has been booking bands around the St. Croix Valley for a while now.

“Stillwater always used to be a hotspot for music and that has waned in the past few years,” Barber said. “I’m trying to build the music scene back up in Stillwater.”

Several downtown bars and restaurants have music on any given night, and Barber's Facebook page creates a home for a live music calendar to live.

Club Owner Monique Hammer has really stuck her neck out there to bring music back to Stillwater, Barber said. “She’s got music seven nights a week—that’s unheard of, even in the Twin Cities.”

Barber envisions music in Stillwater all day long on Sundays—with shows on the decks of the and , before bands take the stage at that afternoon.

“It would be great to see Stillwater residents meeting up at local establishments for a drink, walking through the shops and stopping at various spots to see live music,” Barber said. “I’m trying to create a music Mecca in the valley, a place where music has a always had a strong heartbeat.”
