Stillwater's Japa Salon Gets a Makeover

After seven years on Stillwater's Main Street, Japa Salon has moved up the hill to Valley Ridge Mail. The high-end salon opened in their new custom-built space on March 15.

Moving away from historic Main Street in Stillwater wasn’t an easy choice for owners Steph and Joe Beedle.

“It’s hard to be leaving my group of downtown business owners and friends, we’ve worked together and networked to help each other’s businesses,” Steph said.

But that’s business.

After seven years of running a high-end salon on Main Street, the Stillwater native and her team are moving “up on the hill” to Valley Ridge Mall.

“We wanted to stay downtown,” Joe said. “Unfortunately, the location didn’t work out.”

The new, custom-built salon space offers ample parking and accessibility to several neighboring businesses, such as the , , , , and .

“The new location alleviates our client’s problems with traffic, parking and provides a great opportunity for us to serve our clients better,” Steph said.

The Valley Ridge Mall space allows for customers to come in and relax, while catering to those who want to get their hair done and get back to work, Joe said.

It also opens up the opportunity to expand their client base to the west, forge new business relationships and possibly extend the salon’s hours and add new days.

“The hardest part of leaving downtown is losing the ambiance of Main Street and the network and friendships we’ve made with other downtown business owners,” Joe said. “But there’s a lot of look forward to.”

Japa signed a five-year lease in the space with an option for extension.

“It’s been a dream of mine to own a salon and really make it my own,” Steph said. “I am incredibly lucky to do this in my hometown and have the support of loyal customers, family and longtime friends.”

I love the new space! Cool design, easy parking and most of all - the same great service. Can't wait to book my next appointment. (I drive 45 minutes one way to have my hair done at Japa). Chapeau bas!
