Small Business Saturday takes over today shining a light on those mom-and-pop businesses all over the Stillwater area that are the backbone of America’s economy.

The concept of Small Business Saturday was born in 2010, and is described by the U.S. Small Business Administration as “a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities."

Locally owned business across the country now take part in Small Business Saturday, offering their own deals to rival those offered the day before on Black Friday.

If I could win the lottery, I would love to spend bundles of cash with the local small business owners. My first stop would be at Valley Bookseller and next door at River Market! So, even though I haven't won $$$, I will stop there today and shop. Yeah, small businesses in Stillwater.

If you like vintage/retro clothing, be sure to check and bookmark the new StillwaterVintage.com website currently in the development process. For fans of vintage clothing, we're hoping to make it a great mobile web resource for shoppers to find our vintage clothing/accessory dealers in our various antiques malls on Main Street. These dealers will have items you WON'T find from big name retailers! Shawn, thanks for the shout-out for the Tour Main Street blog!

Don't forget to "Chop Local" at Krueger's Christmas Tree Farm in Lake Elmo! Purchase fresh pre-cut trees in our tree barn and lot, or wander thru our fields and cut the perfect pre-tagged tree. The emphasis at our farm is "education and environment", so enjoy wagon rides, hot cider, the 'Nature Walk' thru our woods, and the Plains Indian historian in our teepee (our land was once a village). Santa will arrive the first two weekends in Dec. from noon-4 pm.. come share the joy and wonder of the season with usss!
