Stillwater Deja Vu - Summer Tuesdays

How fitting that last week's cancellation was of a film set in France, where we were experiencing our very own French-feeling deja vu right here in Stillwater. Last year we also had to cancel one date because of the threat of weather to our own (and many others') disappointment.

There are three types of people when it comes to weather:
1. The Terrified Basement-Dweller = scared of anything more than a brisk wind.
2. The Tornado Chaser = no weatherman will ever scare them and they think anyone who is conscience of weather is a sissy.
3. The Event Coordinator = We think sunny (but not too hot) thoughts each and every day.

In fact, as Event Coordinators we make deals with the devil each day before the event to try to ward off any icky weather. But when it gets down to it, we have peoples' lives and the lives of their children to think about. Should we say "The event is on!" People are trusting us that everything will be fine and proceed. But what if everything doesn't turn out fine? What if that Tornado Watch last week turned out to land in Lowell Park? Summer Tuesdays would then be known as "that tornado event."

The only tornado I'm interested in, is the "Tornado of Fun" that will be brought on by the 2011 movie, "The Muppets!" Kermit the Frog happens to be near and dear to my heart, so anyone I spot wearing GREEN tomorrow night may receive a coupon for a FREE pop or popcorn!

And yes, we do still get complaints from people that we cancel, even though we are an entirely free event to the public. But we also get some pretty awesome people who stick up for our decision, and for that, we thank you.
