The Gladiator is one of the primary tanking classes in FFXIV and is the lead-in class for the Paladin job. Gladiator tanks use bladed weapons (swords, daggers and certain clubs) along with shields. This class is not a DPS heavy class, your damage outputs are rather limited. It does, however, have a decent array of damage mitigating tools, threat combos, and MP regeneration combinations. While it remains to be seen whether Paladin or Warrior will excel in end-game, there is little doubt that Gladiators will be fast group setups in the early game.

What’s the best Gladiator race?
STR and VIT are your best bets for this class. In this case you have a choice of whether to choose the higher STR race Hyur Highlander (23 STR, 22 VIT) but if prefer the higher VIT go for Roegadyn Sea Wolves (22 STR, 23 VIT) and this difference is arguably negligible so it boils down to how you want to look?)
