God's Child Mission Worker to Talk at Ascension

The public is invited to The Episcopal Church of the Ascension to hear remarks by Chris Mathew from the international charity The GOD’S CHILD Project. Chris will speak at the 10:00 AM service and share his experiences about the Project’s programs and the impact it has on breaking the bitter chains of poverty.

A service team of 11 youths and adults from Ascension will be traveling to Guatemala in August to work with The GOD’S CHILD Project building homes for the poor and volunteering at several of the Project’s facilities including:  clothing and vegetable distributions, Casa Jackson center for malnourished infants, The Dreamer Center School, Scheel’s Technical Training Center, and the Albergue Santa Madre homeless shelter.

The GOD’S CHILD Project provides care and education for orphaned, homeless and poor children and families through working in Guatemala, El Salvador, India, Malawi, and the United States.  The education-based program offers poor children and families a dignifying and permanent solution to breaking out of poverty.  The programs address the needs of the extremely poor by providing food, shelter, clothing, education, medical care, and basic human rights protection which they need to one day make it on their own.  One of the most important aspects of the Project is to help children develop hope for the future.
