Check out your local Civic Service Clubs

Civic service clubs have been a vibrant part of our nations local communities for well over a century. Find out what your local clubs are up to and see which one looks right for you.

I am writing today to remind my friends and neighbors in Lake Elmo and the surrounding communities of the importance of civic service clubs.

Civic service clubs such as the Lions, Jaycees and Rotary International, among others, have traditionally been key contributors to the vitality and livability of their communities. These clubs provide an opportunity for members to network, socialize, and work towards shared civic goals (locally, regionally, and internationally in most cases) in a non-partisan and non-denominational manner.

In my short time as a Lake Elmo Rotarian, I have had the privilege and pleasure of helping serve ice cream to our community on the 4th of July, help with our Gold Plate fundraising dinner (this year, Sept. 19th) catered by the Lake Elmo Inn, volunteered at Valley Outreach food shelf, build a daycare playground and improve the look of downtown Lake Elmo.

I have also participated in a couple regional conferences and training events.

Lake Elmo, Our Fair City, also hosts the Huff and Puff softball tournament courtesy of our local Jaycees and the ice-fishing contest run by the Lions. The civic service clubs in your town also plan and run other exciting events that help raise money to benefit the community.

Please consider making a visit to one of these clubs to see if you might be interested in joining and continuing this great American tradition of friendship and service.
