According to a National Retail Federation survey, 52 percent of shoppers have already started their holiday shopping; however, history dictates that many shoppers are holding off in order to capitalize on Thanksgiving day and Black Friday deals.

But in Stillwater, you don't have to get up at the break of dawn, leave Thanksgiving dinner early or camp out to snatch up a deal. In fact, it's discouraged.

"Wouldn't you rather sleep in on Friday, avoid the lines and the crush and still get some great deals," a Mainstreet Stillwater Facebook status update reads. "Head downtown Stillwater at 9 a.m. Friday for Sleepy Head Doorbusters!"

Alfresco owner Meg Brownson also had some fun with her Facebook page in the days before Black Friday.

"Special Announcement: Alfresco will open at 9 p.m. Thursday - oh - JK - we are opening at 9 a.m. Friday for Sleepyhead Downtown Doorbusters! So go ahead and have a good night's sleep! Then come downtown for CIVILIZED shopping with the indies who give character to your town! Grab a coffee at The Daily Grind Espresso Cafeand come watch Santa ROAR down Main Street at about 10:15 a.m.!!!"

But if you're one of those shoppers who can't resist, or truly enjoy, the rush of Black Friday (now leaking into Thanksgiving night), then here are the opening times for some of the area retailers (Stillwater, Oakdale and Woodbury):

• Target opens at 9 p.m.
• Kmart in Oakdale is featuring its Triple Doorbuster deals, starting Thursday morning. Official Black Friday shopping starts at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
• Walmart opens at 8 p.m.

Midnight

• Best Buy in Oakdale. Best Buy Mobile in Stillwater opens Friday.

• Woodbury Lakes: Aeropostale, Eddie Bauer, Express, Gap, H&M, New York & Company, Victoria's Secret, White House | Black Market
• Kohl’s (Customers can submit a TwitPic of themselves in line at Kohl’s at 12 a.m. for a chance to win a $100 Kohl’s e-gift card.)
