Calling All Gardeners and Garden Clubs!

Sad but true, sometimes we are not as graceful as we see ourselves.  Last week I somehow kicked a shelf in my closet and broke one of my toes.  I have not been hitting the trails with gusto or seeking new adventures.  I have instead been elevating, icing, and smearing arnica on my very tender toe and foot.

I did go for a walk today just north of the old prison in what I believe is the Dutchtown neighborhood.

My girlfriend told me that she met the couple who maintains the beautiful garden space on Elm and 1st Street.  If I understand correctly, the land is owned by the DNR, the grass is mowed by the city, and the flowers are planted and maintained for free by this lovely couple.  The couple was given notice that the grass would no longer be cut by the city.  Just keeping up with the gardens is beginning to put a strain on this couple.  Cutting the grass will put them over the top.

Might there be anyone in a garden club or some gardening group who would like to lend a helping hand or take over part of the maintenance of the grass or garden there?  If you have any interest, or know of someone who would be willing to help with any part of the upkeep, please send me a message, and I will pass the information along.

It would be a shame to see this go to seed.  It is a true jewel of the Dutchtown area and Stillwater!
