County Attorney Has Until Friday to Make Charging Decision in Smalley's Bar Fight

Adam McCloud, 29, of Stillwater, is on life support at Regions Hospital after a bar fight last week in downtown Stillwater. Eric Richards, 22, of Stillwater remains in jail on suspicion of first-degree assault charges.

The Washington County Attorney’s Office has been granted a 36-hour extension to make a charging decision about a 22-year-old Stillwater man police arrested Monday in connection with a fight at Smalley’s Caribbean Barbeque and Pirate Bar.

"We are concerned with whether or not our victim will survive," Washington County Attorney Pete Orput told the Pioneer Press. "We've been getting updated medical reports, and we want to be certain that we charge the right offense."

The extension gives the county attorney’s office until noon on Friday to make a charging decision in the case.
