Stillwater Police: Attempted Abduction Tales, Theft

The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.

Friday, Oct. 14:

  • A 4-year-old girl from Houlton, Wis., reportedly told police a man in a mini-van tried to get her in the van. Stillwater police later found the van, arrested the man and took him to jail. Later, the 4-year-old girl told police she made the story up.
  • Two computer bags were taken from a vehicle on Churchill Street. Work documents were in the bags.
  • A purse was stolen from inside a vehicle that was parked in a garage on Linden Street West. There were signs of forced entry into the garage, the glass in the garage side door was found broken.
  • A man allegedly was seen taking two sets of headphones from Radio Shack and leaving the store on foot. The headphones were valued at $119.00.

  • A man was returning home at 2 a.m. when he reporte that he saw a person in his living room. When he entered the house, the man reported that he thought the person left the same way the person got into the home, through the bedroom window that was found open and missing the screen.

  • In Minnesota Department of Corrections news, The eighth annual Art of Recovery is looking for Minnesotans of all ages who have used the arts to respond, explore, express, or heal from a crime to submit their visual art or literary work to the annual art exhibition. The annual Art of Recovery exhibition will be open on Friday, April 20, 2012, to commemorate Crime Victims’ Rights Week, and remain on display until Friday, June 29, 2012. Entries must be submitted by 4:30 on Monday, November 14, 2011, to be entered into the exhibition.   • In Minnesota Department of Public Safety news, Minnesota motorists will experience a heightened, statewide enforcement effort of seat belts from Oct. 14 to 27 during a Click It or Ticket campaign aimed at increasing seat belt use. The deptartment reports 409 unbelted deaths and 814 unbelted serious injuries have occured in the state between 2008 and 2010.
  • The County Public Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office recently joined Code RED. Code RED is a web based system which will allow the county to reach citizens by phone and text messaging. To sign up for Code Red, click here.

Age: - Sex: M - MALE

Height: 63” Weight: 120

Hair Color: BLACK

Eye Color: BROWN

Race: A – ASIAN

Yang has a Washington County Felony warrant for Violation of a Harassment Restraining Order. Yang has been known to the Sheriff’s Department for felony harassment restraining order violations, motor vehicle tax evasion and driving with a suspend license. The preceding items were taken from theStillwater and Oak Park Heights police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
