Oak Park Heights Inmate Given Three More Years After Assaulting Two Officers

Nathaniel Jon Fritz, 27, was convicted on two counts of fourth-degree assault.

A 27-year-old inmate of the Minnesota Correctional Facility at Oak Park Heights was sentenced on Mar. 1 to an additional 34 months in prison after a January assault on two correctional officers.

Nathaniel Jon Fritz was convicted of two counts of fourth-degree assault and given credit for 417 days but will serve the remainder of his sentence at the correctional facility in St. Cloud.

According to a Washington County complaint, Fritz "became agitated" when correctional officers tried to place him on quiet status in the segregation unit of the prison.

Fritz reportedly tried to "dig his fingernails into the hand" of a correctional officer while the officer was trying to restrain him for being verbally abusive.

Fritz then spit three times on the officers, striking one of them on the forearm and the other on the neck, chest and arm.

While he was being restrained, Fritz is said to have shouted:

"I'm gonna spit on one of you (expletive). You better start treating me with some (expletive) respect or you're going to be wearing my spit."

Fritz was sentenced to an additional eight months in prison after being convicted of the same charge back in April 2011.
