Oak Park Heights Man Allegedly Sells Police Informant More Than 20 Grams of Cocaine

Joshua James Loots felony drug charges for allegedly selling an informant 20.1 grams of cocaine on three separate occasions last fall.

A 21-year-old Oak Park Heights man faces felony drug charges after he allegedly sold more than 20 grams of cocaine to a confidential informant.

Joshua James Loots was charged by the with one count of first-degree sale of a controlled substance.

According to the criminal complaint:

A detective with the received information from a confidential informant in July that Loots was selling cocaine.

On three separate occasions in October detectives arranged for the informant to purchase cocaine from Loot, the complaint states.

On Oct. 4, Loot allegedly sold the informant 4.9 grams of cocaine at a previously arranged meet-up location near Curve Crest Boulevard and Highway 5 in Stillwater. On Oct. 10, and again on Oct. 20, detectives arranged for the informant to purchase 7.6 grams of cocaine (during each deal) at a meet-up near Highway 36 and Greeley Street, in Stillwater.

Following each of the controlled buys, the substance tested positive as cocaine, the complaint states. In all, Loot allegedly sold the informant 20.1 grams of cocaine during the investigation

If convicted, Loot faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
