Wallet Left Behind in Minnesota SUV that Crashed into Hudson's Octagon House

Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen said Monday he's hopeful the suspect will come forward.

An SUV registered to an owner in Minnesota crashed early Saturday into the historic Octagon House Museum in Hudson.

But police have a couple of clues as to who might have been behind the wheel.

First, the driver, who fled on foot, left the blue SUV behind with damage to the front end and the driver's side.

Also, someone left his or her wallet inside the vehicle.

The SUV is registered in Minnesota to a person Hudson police believe to be the father of the suspect driver, according to Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen.

Two witnesses saw the crash, he said, but by the time they reached the vehicle, the driver had fled on foot.

Hudson is home to "the significant other" of the suspect, Jensen said.

"We ended up going to a residence that driver might be at," he said, but the search came up empty.

When asked about coordination with police in Minnesota, Jensen said efforts were underway to make contact with the vehicle's owner.

After a weekend without contact with the owner or driver, Jensen said Monday morning that police are "hopeful someone will come forward—maybe today."
