Police Blotter: Drunken Drivers and Disorderly Conduct Keep Police Busy

Police also responded to a report of people stuck in an elevator and fireworks complaints.

A 32-year-old Stillwater with three previous DWI convictions (2003, 2004 and 2005) was arrested for first-degree DWI at about 2 p.m. July 3 after he allegedly caused a four-vehicle crash—injuring three people—while driving a vehicle owned by his employer near Stillwater and Curve Crest boulevards. The incident started in Oak Park Heights when Washington County dispatchers took numerous reports of a black truck recklessly driving at various speeds and cutting drivers off on Manning Avenue. The man allegedly ran a red light on Stillwater Boulevard and collided with two vehicles and a pedestrian crosswalk pole causing it to break off and hit a third vehicle. The man’s preliminary breath test resulted in a .19 reading. David Ronald Hackler was also cited for gross-misdemeanor criminal-vehicular operation, driving on a restricted driver’s license and possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle.

Two men—one from Afton and the other of Saint Paul—were each cited for disorderly conduct July 5 after they allegedly instigated a fight with a retired Ramsey County deputy and a group of soldiers in the 300 block of Main Street. It was reported that the two men came out of Rafters and jaywalked across Main Street while flipping off and taunting a retired deputy to get out of his vehicle. While one of the men was yelling at the retired officer, the other started a fight with a soldier. A fight broke out in the street and then the two men fled to Whitey’s, where they were eventually located and cited.

When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
