Prison Threats Lead to Felony Charges for Stillwater Inmate

Damon Derrail Clark could spend up to five more years in prison and be ordered to pay a $10,000 fine if convicted of terroristic threats.

A 22-year-old inmate at Stillwater prison is facing new felony charges after threatening to kill a correctional officer and his family.

According to a Washington County criminal complaint, Damon Derrail Clark got angry with the correctional officer after the man refused to administer Clark's medication.

The officer allegedly told Clark that—as per usual—the prison nurse would administer his medication at the scheduled time.

Clark then reportedly launched into a tirade, alleging other murders and threatening to kill the guard and his family once he was released from prison.

According to the complaint, Clark told the officer the following:

A second correctional officer told investigators he heard Clark threaten to follow his colleague home and shoot him in the back of the head.

In a post-incident interview, Clark admitted to threatening the officer.

Clark's criminal record shows prior convictions for terroristic threats in Aug. 2010; domestic assault by strangulation and second-degree assault in Nov. 2009; and fleeing a police officer and fourth-degree damage to property in Jan. 2009.

Clark is scheduled to appear in Washington County court for an omnibus hearing on Feb. 15 and, if necessary, a jury trial on Apr. 2.

If convicted of terroristic threats, Clark could face up to five additional years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
