State Patrol: Lake Elmo Man Suffered Cardiac Arrest Prior to Fatal Crash

A 59-year old Lake Elmo driver went into cardiac arrest before rear-ending a SUV Wednesday evening at the intersection of Highway 36 and Oakgreen Avenue, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 59-year old Lake Elmo man died after going into cardiac arrest behind the wheel of his truck Wednesday evening and crashing into a SUV that was stopped at the intersection of Highway 36 and Oakgreen Avenue.

The Minnesota State Patrol believes Michael Reinhardt suffered a cardiac arrest prior to rear-ending a Chevy Tahoe that was stopped in the left turn lane on eastbound Highway 36 just before 5:30 p.m.

The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old Hugo woman, received minor injuries as a result of the crash, according to the crash report. Reinhardt was reportedly transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he died.
