Hernandez reportedly admitted to taking the television after police told him he was captured stealing it on video surveillance. Hernandez then took police back to his home in the 200 block of Olive Street where he turned over the television.

According to video surveillance:

Hernandez walked into the emergency room entrance of the hospital at about 11:30 p.m. and asked hospital staff if he could come in because his mother died and he needed a place to stay for a while.

Staff members let him in, and according to a police report, the man bought a bottle of soda from the vending area and then sat down to watch television in the lobby of the emergency room.

About 15 minutes later, hospital security had lost sight of the man and then noticed that the 20-inch television from the lobby area was gone.

After looking at surveillance video, hospital staff saw a man leave the hospital through the main entrance carrying the television in his hands.
