Stillwater Police: A Loose Horse and Theft From Vehicles

The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.
Police Calls:
Tuesday, Aug. 9:

- A stereo and speaker set valued at $300 was taken from a vehicle in the 300 block of Echo Lane.
- Two bikes, one valued at $100 and the other at $200 were taken from a residence in the 200 block of Oakridge Road.
- A small amount of cash was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Elm Street.
- Two vehicles were rummaged through in the 300 block of Elm Street. No items were taken from the vehicle.
- A case of potato chips and a case of soda valued at $28 were taken from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Mulberry Street West.
- A vehicle was rummaged through but no items were taken from the vehicle in the 600 block of Sunrise Avenue.
- A CD case and CDs valued at $200 were taken from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Sunnyslope Lane. The items were later recovered on the top of another vehicle.
- Two women spotted a loose horse on McKusick Road North Tuesday evening. The women were able to catch the horse and bring it to the side of the road. The owner of the horse was contacted and she was unaware the horse had escaped.

Brady Gervais of the Pioneer Press reports that a St. Paul puppynapping suspect was arrested at an Oak Park Heights business. A second suspect in the St. Paul puppynapping incident was arrested in Oakdale, according to the report.

- Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials stated last week (Aug. 1–7) was the third deadliest week of 2011 on Minnesota roads. According to DPS, 13 people have been killed on state roads since Aug. 1.
- The County Public Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office recently joined Code RED. Code RED is a web based system which will allow the county to reach citizens by phone and text messaging. Yang has a Washington County Felony warrant for Violation of a Harassment Restraining Order. Yang has been known to the Sheriff’s Department for felony harassment restraining order violations, motor vehicle tax evasion and driving with a suspend license.
