Stillwater Police: A Wet Flee, a Peeping Tom and a Rogue Bat

Stillwater Police Blotter Aug. 18-22.

The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.

Police Calls:

Thursday, Aug. 18:

  • A 21-year-old Stillwater man allegedly swung a knife at a 23-year-old Stillwater man on Brewers Lane. As the suspect was being arrested his girlfriend began swearing and yelling at the officers obstructing the arrest. The girlfriend was then arrested for misdemeanor obstructing and disordering conduct. The girlfriend and the 21-year-old man were taken to Washington County Jail. The 21-year-old man may face second degree assault charges.
  • Police responded to a report of a woman who got out of a vehicle on the Stillwater Lift Bridge with an open can of beer and get into another vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the woman.

Friday, Aug. 19:

  • Officers were called to after a extremely intoxicated 21-year-old Stillwater man refused to leave the bar. When the officers arrived, the man fled on foot jumping into the river. The man was located shortly after on a docked boat not belonging to him. The man was cited for disorderly conduct, trespassing, and fleeing police.
  • An individual entered a home in the 400 block of Hickory Street West by unlocking the front door through a previously broken window. An Xbox 360, controllers and games were stolen.

Saturday, Aug. 20

  • An unknown man has been reportedly peeping in windows of residences on Martha Street South. Neighbors reported to police they saw a man peeping in their windows the night before but did not report it.

Sunday, Aug. 21

  • Officers received a call about a rabid bat on Main Street. When the officer arrived, they attempted to get the bat into a crate. The bat continued to fly away but did not appear to be sick.

Monday, Aug. 22

  • An officer observed a man running with a backpack. The man tackled another man and began punching him. When the officer approached him, the men said they knew each other and were just playing around. One of the men was cited for disorderly conduct.

Public Safety Messages:

  • Plan a sober ride home: Minnesota Joins Nationwide DWI Crackdown through Labor Day. Added DWI enforcement will be on the roads Aug, 19 to Sept. 5. Minnesota is among 10,000 Law Enforcement Agencies nationwide participating in the crackdown. The State Patrol will partner with nearly 400 city and county agencies to prevent alcohol-related tragedies, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
  • The County Public Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office recently joined Code RED. Code RED is a web based system which will allow the county to reach citizens by phone and text messaging. To sign up for Code Red, click here.
  • In Minnesota Department of Corrections news, Corrections Commissioner Tom Roy has selected Michelle Smith as warden of the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater and John King as warden of MCF-Lino Lakes.

Name: YANG, PAO CHOUA

Age: - Sex: M - MALE

Height: 63” Weight: 120

Hair Color: BLACK

Eye Color: BROWN

Race: A – ASIAN

Yang has a Washington County Felony warrant for Violation of a Harassment Restraining Order. Yang has been known to the Sheriff’s Department for felony harassment restraining order violations, motor vehicle tax evasion and driving with a suspend license. The preceding items were taken from theStillwater and Oak Park Heights police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
