Stillwater Police Blotter: Gold Foil Stolen From Dentist Office and Police Are On Toddler's Speed Dial

Police also respond to reports of drunken driving, assault and fraud.

Police were called to a report of a burglary at a dentist office in the 200 block of Second Street May 6 after someone entered the office, forced open the safe and stole four glass vials of gold foil valued at $1,000. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary and theft remain under investigation.

A 3-year-old toddler has placed 56 emergency calls to police in the last two months from her mother's cell phone and land line. The most recent of which landed the toddler's 24-year-old mother in jail  for permitting a public nuisance, as well as obstructing the legal process with force and a Steele County warrant for driving after suspension. Police were called to the woman's home in the 1100 block of Curve Crest Boulevard three more times on May 12 for a child talking on her mother’s cell phone. When police arrived, the woman allegedly began fighting with the officers. She was eventually jailed for a warrant out of Steele County.

A 27-year-old Brooklyn Park woman was jailed on suspicion of fourth-degree DWI after she was stopped for poor driving behavior near Highway 36 and Greeley Street. According to police, the result of the woman’s preliminary breath test was .14.

A 27-year-old Newport woman was cited for possession of stolen license plates after she was stopped near Stillwater Boulevard and Cottage Drive. The passenger in her vehicle, a 37-year-old Newport man, was jailed on suspicion of possession methamphetamine.

A 34-year-old Apple Valley man was cited for giving a false name to police, driving after revocation, careless driving, failure to yield the right of way, not wearing a seatbelt and no proof of insurance after he pulled out in front of a squad near Myrtle and Second streets, nearly causing a collision.

May 11

Police are investigating a report of prescription drug fraud at Target, 2021 Market Drive.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious letter that was delivered to a home in the 600 block of Stillwater Boulevard North. Police believe it may have been a foreclosure scam. The homeowner was advised to call the bank.

A 37-year-old Maplewood man was cited for driving after suspension and speeding (45 mph in a 30 mph zone) on Orleans Street West.

Police responded to a report that a 21-year-old woman was “jumped” outside of Brines by a group of people who stole her cell phone and fled. According to police, the woman had a scratch on her arm.

A 21-year-old Lake Elmo man was jailed on fourth-degree DWI charges after police conducted a traffic stop on Main Street. According to police, the man’s preliminary breath test resulted in a reading of .19.

May 12

A 44-year-old May Township man was cited for speeding after he was stopped for travelling 79 mph in a 50 mph zone in the 1300 block of Main Street.

The preceding items were taken from theStillwater and Oak Park Heights police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
