A 26-year-old Cottage Grove man was arrested for probable cause second-degree assault, making terroristic threats and fifth-degree assault after police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Cottage Drive. It was reported that the man assaulted a 21-year-old woman, slapped their 1-year-old child across the face and threatened the woman and their children. The man reportedly then grabbed a metal pipe, held it over his head and stated he “would shut them up.” The man allegedly locked himself in the couple’s home after the woman fled and police kicked the door in with guns drawn. When police entered, the man was reportedly on his knees with a baby in his hands. Police took custody of the child and returned the baby to the woman. Charges were forwarded to the Washington County Attorney’s Office for consideration.

The preceding items were taken from theStillwater Police Departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
