Stillwater Police: Homeowners Get a Rude Awakening, Food Theft

Stillwater Police Blotter Aug. 11-12.

The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports, a press release issued by Stillwater Police Department Spokesman Sgt. Jeff Stender and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.

Police Calls:

Thursday, Aug. 11:

  • Two watches were reported missing from a residence in the 200 block of Main Street North. The owner is unaware when they were taken but believes they could have been taken earlier this year when he reported two guns missing from his home. The watches are valued at $4,000.
  • A case of Dr. Pepper and a Styrofoam cup filled with candy were taken from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Mulberry Street.
  • A garage door of a residence in the 1000 block of South Martha Street was kicked in but nothing was taken from the garage. This is the second time this week that the door as been kicked in.
  • A woman left her purse behind at Target, when she returned to the store the purse was gone. The woman stated she had $1,000 in cash in her purse.
  • The Stillwater Police canine unit was called to locate the smell of Marijuana in Oak Park Heights. A small amount of marijuana was located in the cup holder of the vehicle.

Friday, Aug. 12:

At approximately 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of East Willow Street, a couple awoke to a vehicle described as a very dirty red three fourth ton extended cab Ford pickup truck with lights on the roof backing through their garage door and hitting their parked car, according to the police report.

The truck was seen approaching the scene. The witness stated she heard the truck approach while it was on Second Street. She heard multiple people yelling and shouting as the truck drove by turning the corner onto Willow Street. After that, she heard a loud collision, the police report said.

The homeowner believes there were by two people in the truck. The trucked suffered extensive damage and was leaking fluids as it fled the scene. Tire tread marks were also left at the scene, the police report stated. Anyone with information should contact the Stillwater Police at 651-351-4945.

Other Friday Police incidents:

  • A group of people were found smoking cigarettes behind Smalley’s Caribbean barbeque on Main Street South. The officer discovered a glass pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana on top of a individual’s purse.
  • An individual reported that an unknown person has thrown an egg at his vehicle while driving on Manning Avenue.

Public Safety Messages:

  • The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Traffic Safety announced Tuesday the results from July’s speed enforcement campaign. During the campaign, 21 motorists were ticketed for speeding in excess of 100 mph, and 72 drivers were cited for going more than 90 mph.
  • In Minnesota Department of Corrections news, Minnesota Correctional Facility-Lino Lakes canine officers recently took top honors at the police dog re-certification trials in Minneapolis. This is the fourth year the team has placed first. More than 90 police dog teams from all over the state participated in the event.

Age: - Sex: M - MALE

Height: 63” Weight: 120

Hair Color: BLACK

Eye Color: BROWN

Race: A – ASIAN

Yang has a Washington County Felony warrant for Violation of a Harassment Restraining Order. Yang has been known to the Sheriff’s Department for felony harassment restraining order violations, motor vehicle tax evasion and driving with a suspend license. The preceding items were taken from theStillwater and Oak Park Heights police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
