Stillwater Police: Mother's Day Ring, Bible, Rosaries Stolen from Deceased

Someone stole a Mother’s Day ring, bible and two rosaries from the deceased during her funeral Monday at the Church of St. Michael.

Stillwater police responded to the theft report after a resident noticed the items were missing from the casket following the funeral.

The funeral facilitator told police that he took the items out of the casket and placed them on a planter in the atrium of the church before bringing the casket into the church, the report states.

The funeral facilitator told family members he placed the items on the planter—which is standard practice—at 10:55 a.m. and 10 minutes later he learned they were missing.

Police have no suspects at this time.
