Stillwater Police: Attempted Burglary, A Missing Engagement Ring

Stillwater Police Blotter for Oct. 21-24.

The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.

Friday, Oct. 21:

  • A resident on Meadowlark Drive heard someone jiggling their front door doorknob and then ringing the doorbell. When the resident looked out the window, they saw someone running from their house. A neighbor reported the screen on their three season porch had damage and had blood on it. The neighbor believed that someone tried gaining access to their porch.
  • A woman reported the theft of prescription medication and her engagement ring valued at $900 from her night stand. The items reportedly went missing during a visit from her friend.
  • A pair of jeans were reported stolen from Collaborations Boutique on Main Street.

Monday, October 24:

  • Two juvenile boys were reportedly walking around with an airsoft gun near church. When the boys were approached by an officer, they appeared to be scared and were taken home.

Public Safety Messages:

  • In Minnesota Department of Corrections news, the department will begin piloting a secure web-based messaging system for offenders at the Oak Park Heights and Shakopee prisons this week. The pilot program will allow family and friends to send messages to offenders through a secure web site. The system will significantly lower contraband introduced into the facilities and allow for better surveillance and monitoring of offender correspondence, according to the DOC.
  • In Minnesota Department of Public Safety news, Minnesota motorists will experience a heightened, statewide enforcement effort of seat belts from Oct. 14 to 27 during a Click It or Ticket campaign aimed at increasing seat belt use. The department reports 409 unbelted deaths and 814 unbelted serious injuries have occurred in the state between 2008 and 2010.
  • The County Public Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office recently joined Code RED. Code RED is a web based system which will allow the county to reach citizens by phone and text messaging. To sign up for Code Red, click here.

These persons have active outstanding warrants through the Sheriff's Office. If you have any information on the current whereabouts of any of these individuals, please contact either the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 651-439-9381, or your local law enforcement agency.

Age: - Sex: M - MALE

Height: 63” Weight: 120

Hair Color: BLACK

Eye Color: BROWN

Race: A – ASIAN

Yang has a Washington County Felony warrant for Violation of a Harassment Restraining Order. Yang has been known to the Sheriff’s Department for felony harassment restraining order violations, motor vehicle tax evasion and driving with a suspend license. Yang is known to frequent Brooklyn Park and the city of Afton area. (http://wcsheriff.info/wanted/Yang,%20Pao.pdf)

The preceding items were taken from theStillwater and Oak Park Heights police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
