Elections 2012: McComber Elected Oak Park Heights Mayor; Dougherty, Runk Elected to Council

City Council member Mary McComber defeated Mayor David Beaudet, 55 percent to 44 percent.

There’s a new mayor in Oak Park Heights.

City Council member Mary McComber defeated Mayor David Beaudet, 55 percent to 44 percent on Tuesday night. McComber received 1,229 votes, while Beadet for 994, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State.

Beaudet has served the residents of Oak Park Heights for 17 years.

Oak Park Heights voters also elected Chuck Dougherty (34 percent) and incumbent City Council Member Mike Runk (30 percent) over Mike Liljegren, who received 26 percent of the vote.

In a phone call Tuesday night, Dougherty thanked everyone for their support, and said he is “very excited to serve the city in this capacity.”

Dougherty said he is excited to work with newly-elected mayor McComber.

“I think we’ll have a great council,” Dougherty said. “It’s a great group of people who can get a lot of stuff done, work well together and be innovative.”
