Kathy Lohmer Sworn in for Second Term in Minnesota House of Representatives

Rep. Kathy Lohmer (R-Stillwater) was officially sworn in as the state representative for House District 39B on Tuesday.

“I am humbled and honored to be able to serve the people of central Washington County for another term,” Lohmer stated in a news release. “I plan to work closely with Rep. Dettmer, Sen. Housley, and our local officials on the challenges facing us as a community and as a state. 

“I ran on the platform of limited government, fiscal responsibility, economic freedom, and keeping our community safe. Even though I am now a member of the minority party in the Minnesota House, I intend to continue to fight for those principles.”

One of Lohmer’s specific priorities for her second term is continuing her work to find education and housing solutions for families of children with severe autism.

With her assignment to the Public Safety Finance & Policy Committee, Lohmer also plans to work to find funding for the Lower St. Croix Valley Fire Department’s requirement to respond to calls on Interstate 94, a federal highway. Currently, the small municipalities in that area are required to pay that cost.

Lohmer’s committee assignments include Higher Education Finance & Policy, Jobs & Economic Development Finance & Policy, and Public Safety Finance & Policy.
