Public Weighs in on the Browns Creek Trail

Residents shared their thoughts and ideas with the Minnesota DNR last night during a public forum at the Stillwater Public Library.

The second open house to discuss the Browns Creek Trail will take place tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the .

The trail will connect the Gateway State Trail in Grant to the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway in Stillwater via a 5.9 mile trail.

DNR staff will be available to discuss the draft master plan and answer questions about the state trail. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the draft master plan.

Comments on the draft will be accepted through Friday, Jan. 6 and can be sent directly to colin.kelly@state.mn.us.

Trail Development Timeline

  • Fall 2011: Design begins for entire corridor. Weather permitting, begin removing rails and their supporting ties.
  • Spring 2012: Redevelop railroad bridge over St. Croix Trail/State Highway 95 and begin paving the trail corridor.
