What Questions You Have for the 2012 Candidates

What issues are important to you when it comes to deciding which candidates are elected to positions on the Stillwater City Council, School Board and representatives on the state and federal level? Leave your questions in the comments below.

The filing period for candidates running for elected positions with primaries came to a close Tuesday evening.

Come November, there will be two Stillwater City Council seats, as well as elected positions in Senate District 39, House 39A and 39B, the U.S. Senate and Fourth Congressional District up for grabs.

The will also hold elections for three school board seats, in addition to elected positions in Oak Park Heights.

Stillwater Patch wants to know what questions you would like to see asked of—and answered by—the candidates.

This site is for you, so please don’t be shy, tell me what questions are important to you by leaving them in the comment section of this post.

I’ll do my best to add your questions to the list of things I plan to ask the candidates in the coming weeks and months--all in the hopes of making it ridiculously easy for you to be informed come Election Day.

City Council candidates:
What new projects and spending will you be supporting and/or against? What type of summer festival do you feel is appropriate for Stillwater? What is your definition of a better Stillwater?

What, if any, relationship do you have with the mayor?

Although it seems to not be the best use of our police officer's time, calling the police seems toRead More be the answer. In our neighborhood, we have been told time and time again by the city council, that they don't know if there is a problem, or how frequent that problem is, unless citizens call the police. Now, whether you can get the police to do something about it, is a completely different subject as most shrug you off as if you are nothing more than an annoying gnat. It would certainly be nice if the city would consider some sort of written complaint procedure.
