"You may have heard that we applied for a July Parade in Stillwater Minnesota. We wanted to continue the tradition of this annual family-fun event. We had hoped to use the same parade route, but there will be street construction in the North Hill neighborhood, specifically Laurel St. We also learned that putting on a good parade with bands and entertainment is expensive. That and the time to coordinate it all, has led us to retract our application for the Parade."

Traditionally, the and ran the third week of July. The Stillwater City Council enacted a moratorium for summer events, but has stated that a parade may be exempted if it passed through the events process and was approved by the council.

The nonprofit group that considered putting on the parade will continue focusing their efforts on Summer Tuesdays and Stillwater Harvest Fest.
