The "Keep Lumberjack Days Local" page on Facebook had nearly 1,200 Likes as of Friday, a week after it was created. There were no new posts since the council action Friday morning, but one supporter posted "WE WON!! Congrats!"

At the Stillwater Patch Facebook page, one commenter was similarly thrilled: "Go Locals!!!!" Another supporter was impressed with the winning bid: "Glad the LOCALS will be planning our fun summer festival. Great presentation to the City Council and they are very organized!"

On Twitter, Greg Seitz of the St. Croix 360 website greeted the news succinctly: "Great decision."

Cassie McLemore, part of the selected group, tweeted, "So proud tonight! Our group #thelocals was chosen to take on the 2014 festival to replace Lumberjack Days! #stillwater"
